Welcome to St. Joseph’s School of Music!

In October, 2024, St. Joseph's School of Music and The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music underwent a merger to form a high quality music school to serve our neighbors in Saint Paul in our beautiful shared space in the Richards Gordon Building on Dayton Ave.   

For a year, we have operated as St. Joseph's School of Music – St. Paul Conservatory (or SJSM-SPCM for short!), and continued to serve our community.

However, under the terms of that merger, a new name was always the goal! We just wanted to take the time to make sure we got it right. 

Under the guidance of local branding agency Little & Co. and our own committee of board members representing both legacy schools, we've undergone a months long process of choosing a name and building a brand that will be true to the legacies of both schools while also carrying us into the future. As of September 28th, 2025, this school will be known by it’s new name: Laurel School of Music. 

This name change doesn't change who we our, or our mission together; we are simply expressing it more clearly.  And it will take all of us some time to transition, but we're excited for our future together!  

What does that mean for you?

1. The same great faculty you’ve always known are still here.

2. Our new website is here at laurelschoolofmusic.org.

3. However, while we reorganize, most of our programs and registration forms are easily available at the SJSM-SPCM site.
