Laurel is a non-profit music school offering high quality music education and rich musical community in the heart of Saint Paul, MN.

At Laurel, we do more than teach music — we create community through music.

In addition to a comprehensive, diverse, and impressive offering of private music lessons, classes, and ensembles, we strive to provide everyone in our community with access to high quality musical experiences.

A new name —
with a long history.

Laurel was founded in October 2024 as the merger of two legacy schools with 5 decades of history in Saint Paul: The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music and Saint Joseph’s School of Music.

LAUREL BY THE NUMBERS…

Laurel provides year-round private instruction for over 600 music students taught by 89 artist-faculty representing a variety of instruments, disciplines, and cultures.

We offer a wide variety of group classes, ensembles, and other musical opportunities for students and community members of all ages.

Laurel’s robust financial aid and scholarship programs help us keep our commitment to providing musical opportunities for our community regardless of their current financial situation.

We run 3 free monthly concert series featuring Laurel faculty-artists and exceptional guest artists from around the Twin Cities and beyond.

Our partnerships with MSS and other community organizations offer outreach performances across the Twin Cities that have served over 800 community members.

Our StringFest has brought together 109 regional middle and high school string students for a day of orchestra and learning.

In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, our Music Across Minnesota program reached over 1400 students across rural and urban Minnesota communities hit hardest by the pandemic, and provided free online lessons to over 200 music students.

Our faculty are involved in over 40 metro and regional ensembles, from subbing with Minnesota Orchestra, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and MN Opera, to chamber ensembles, regional orchestras, and more.

How does all this happen?!

That is where you enter the picture! It is because of the generous support of our community that:

  • Laurel can offer scholarships for private and group study.

  • Laurel is able to present moments of inspiration and comfort to the ill, injured, elderly, or displaced.

  • Laurel can provide instruction that supports not just budding performers, but makes all-around better students.

For the sake of appreciative audiences and enthusiastic students who would not otherwise have access to our wide variety of programming, we ask you: Give to the Laurel Fund today, as generously as you can!
