Matthew Wilson

Piano Faculty

Dr. Matthew Wilson, DMA, NCTM is a pianist, educator, and singer-songwriter based in Saint Paul, Minnesota where he teaches at the Laurel School of Music. A laureate of the 19th Annual Chopin Festival in Mazovia, Poland, he maintains an active career as a performer and recording artist, with original music slated for release in 2026.

Dr. Wilson’s work spans performance, pedagogy, and composition. His choral arrangements have been broadcast internationally on the Eternal Word Television Network, and his transcriptions have been performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. He has also worked extensively as a professional chorister, collaborative pianist, and coach.

An engaged and thoughtful educator, Dr. Wilson has taught music theory, aural skills, and class piano at the collegiate level and has presented on piano pedagogy at state and national conferences. He currently serves as Vice President of Membership and Marketing for the Minnesota Music Teachers Association and is an active member of the Minnesota Association of Songwriters.

Dr. Wilson holds degrees from Florida State University (BM), Samford University (MM), and the University of Alabama (DMA). Additional study includes the Aspen Music Festival and School, the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York City, and post-baccalaureate coursework at Columbia University. His work reflects a deep commitment to artistry, education, and creative exploration across classical and contemporary styles.
