Piano Faculty

Liz is honored to join the faculty at Laurel School of Music. After many years of private teaching, she founded her private studio, PianoGarden, in 1997. She has taught piano at a private academy in St Paul since 2008.

Liz is an active performer and composer, and also an ongoing student of healing modalities centering on sound and music. Her work has been deeply influenced in consultation with process work author Lane Arye (Unintentional Music) as well as Israeli producer/performer/composer Yuval Ron (Heal Me @40Hz). Under the auspices of Sufi Center Minnesota Liz currently teaches a weekly class in divine chant inspired by the Abrahamic traditions.

Her piano studies in Minnesota have included work with Tadeusz Majewski, Stephanie Wendt and jazz pianist Mary Louise Knutson. Liz also pursued undergraduate composition studies at the University of Minnesota with Paul Fetler and Dominick Argento, in addition to private study with composers Philip Rhodes, Daniel Kallman, and Libby Larsen.

A native of Vermont, Liz Lupien is dedicated to lifelong learning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in German Language from Middlebury College (1977) and two Masters of Divinity from the University of Sufism (2017 and 2023).
