Denise Hernández-Raveiro

Denise Hernández-Raveiro is a Cuban cellist and dedicated teacher who brings warmth, creativity, and joy to her work. She graduated with highest honors from the University of the Arts in Havana and has performed at renowned venues such as Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Elbphilharmonie. As a performer, she is a co-founder of the Havana Quartet, an ensemble that shares both classical and Cuban music through engaging performances, collaborations with organizations such as the Sphinx Organization, community-based work with CAYO in the Twin Cities, and collaborations with institutions including MacPhail Center for Music.

Denise is also an active educator in the Twin Cities and teaches with Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS). She began her teaching career in Cuba at the Escuela Vocacional de Arte in Pinar del Río and later taught at the University of the Arts in Havana. She has worked with students of all ages, from young beginners to advanced musicians, and is committed to helping each student grow at their own pace while building a strong technical foundation. Her teaching fosters discipline, curiosity, and meaningful musical expression in a supportive and engaging environment.
