Daniel Orsen

Viola Faculty

Daniel Orsen is a member of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Orsen has performed as soloist with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Fermata Chamber Soloists, and Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, and festival credits include Krzyzowa, Ravinia, Prussia Cove, Verbier, and the Perlman Music Program. His albums Wagner’s Nightmare and Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata can be heard in the usual places. Mr. Orsen teaches at the Laurel School of music and in the summers is a frequent faculty member at Credo and Northern Lights Chamber Music Institute.

Mr. Orsen was taught and mentored by members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Credo, and the Perlman Music Program before his studies at the Oberlin Conservatory with Peter Slowik and the New England Conservatory with Kim Kashkashian. He plays on a 2013 Philip Injeian viola and a 2014 Benoit Rolland bow, both specially made for him.
