Laurel Summer Camps Supplemental Forms
The Summer Music Camp supplemental form, including elective selection, will open on Wednesday, April 15.
Electives are listed below. Elective signup is first-come-first served. We will do our best to accommodate first choice selection for all students, but please be aware that this is not always possible. We thank you for your patience and trust while we craft rewarding schedules for all campers!
Summer Music Camp
Electives 2026

SESSION 1
Musical: Peter Pan*
Grades: Rising 4th and Up
Experience: None required
Instructor: James Sherepa
Students will learn both dialog and songs to tell the story of Peter Pan. Selected songs will be performed at the camp showcase, and a video of the full musical will be available to friends/family.
Beginning Ukulele*
Grades: All
Experience: None required
Instructor: Kathy Lee
Students will learn the fundamentals of playing the ukulele, working both as a large group and independently to learn simple tunes. Class will perform in the camp showcase.
Note: Beginning Ukulele is also available in Session 3
Songwriting*
Grades: Rising 3rd and Up
Experience: None required
Instructor: Harry Chalmiers
Unlock your creativity and turn your original ideas into songs! Students will learn fundamentals in a large group, then split into small groups to write original songs. Small groups will present their songs at the camp showcase.
Beginning Piano*
Grades: All
Experience: None required
Instructor: Amos Lucidi & Ada Tzab
Perfect for students interested in trying the piano! Students will learn the basics of playing the piano, working on both solo and duet selections. Class will perform in the camp showcase.
Chamber Music*
Grades: All
Experience: Ability to read music, minimum 1 year on instrument
Instructor: Claire Loudon & others
Students will be placed into small chamber groups based on ability, or may request to be placed with friends. Chamber groups will work on a piece to share at the camp showcase. All instruments are welcome!
SESSION 2
Musical Detectives
Grades: All
Experience: None required
Instructor: Michael Eastwood
Students become sound investigators, using their ears, instruments, and creativity to solve musical mysteries. Analyze what you hear and respond to uncover a missing instrument, figure out what changed in a pattern, or decode a rhythm message. Along the way, students build essential musical, rhythm recognition, memory, and ensemble awareness.
Intermediate Ukulele*
Grades: All
Experience: Previous ukulele experience
Instructor: Harry Chalmiers
Students will build on their previous ukulele experience, working in both large groups and independently to learn simple tunes. Class will perform in the camp showcase.
Symphony of Sounds
Grades: Rising 1st-3rd
Experience: None required
Instructor: Kathy Lee
Musical instruments aren’t the only things that make interesting and beautiful sounds. There is a world of sound all around us - all we need to do is pay attention. This class will explore the sounds we find in everyday life, and the stories we can tell with them.
Introduction to Harp*
Grades: All
Experience: None required
Instructor: Ada Tzab
Perfect for students interested in trying the harp! Students will learn the basics of playing the harp, and will perform in the camp showcase.
Fiddling for Strings*
Grades: All
Experience: Current strings players
Instructor: Claire Loudon
Perfect for string instrumentalists who have been curious about playing fiddle music! This class will introduce fiddling techniques, and will perform in the camp showcase.
SESSION 3
Beginning Guitar*
Grades: Rising 4th and Up
Experience: None required

Perfect for students who are interested in trying out the guitar for the first time! Students will be introduced to the basics of playing the guitar and will perform in the final showcase.
Handbells*
Grades: All
Experience: None required
Instructor: Ada Tzab
Learn rhythm and collaboration skills in a fun and rewarding setting! Students work together to play tunes on the handbells. Class will perform in the camp showcase.
Beginning Violin*
Grades: All
Experience: None required

Perfect for students who want to try the violin! Students will learn the basics of playing the violin and will perform in the camp showcase.
